Devotional
King David was described as a man after God’s own heart. He was a worshiper, a leader, someone who genuinely loved God. And yet, when the prophet Nathan told him a story about a man who had done something deeply unjust, David was furious and demanded justice without realizing for a single moment that he was the man in the story. If it could happen to David, it can happen to any of us. We can be in church every week, singing every song, serving faithfully, and still have something significant that we have not allowed God to address in us. Religious activity does not automatically produce self-awareness. Only honest, open surrender to the Holy Spirit does that. The encouraging part of David’s story is what came next. When Nathan said, “You are the man,” David did not run. He repented. He let God in. And God met Him there. Your blind spots do not disqualify you. But ignoring them will hold you back. Let God in today.
Bible Verse
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the everlasting way.” – Psalm 139:23-24
Reflection Question
Is there an area of your life where you might be like David, confident in your own righteousness but not yet seeing the full picture?
Quote
“It is possible to be in church and to be living the life and still have a giant two by four sticking out of our eye.”
Prayer
God, search my heart and show me what I cannot see on my own. I want to be honest with You and with myself. Lead me in Your way. Amen.
