This Is Why We Need Each Other

Devotional

Real community is one of the most powerful gifts God gives us. Not a community where everyone pretends everything is fine, but one where people actually know each other, care enough to be honest, and are humble enough to receive honesty in return. When someone who loves you comes to you and says, “Hey, I noticed something and I want to talk about it,” the natural reaction is to get defensive. It feels like an attack. But that kind of conversation, done with love and humility, is actually one of the most valuable things another person can offer you. The world is not going to offer you that. Accountability, honesty, and genuine care are things that should be found right here, in the community of believers around you. That is part of why the church exists. Not to tear each other down, but to lift each other up and help each other grow. You need people who will tell you the truth. And someone around you needs you to be that kind of person for them. Be the kind of friend who speaks with love, and be humble enough to receive it when it comes your way.

Bible Verse

“You will recognize them by their fruit.” – Matthew 7:16

Reflection Question

Do you have someone in your life who loves you enough to tell you the truth, and are you humble enough to actually listen when they do?

Quote

“You don’t have to convince everybody. You don’t have to win every argument. You don’t have to expose everybody’s weaknesses or failures. You don’t have to correct everybody. Sometimes your job is to simply love that person, pray for that person.”

Prayer

Father, help me to build relationships where honesty and love go together. Make me someone who speaks truth with grace and receives it with humility. Amen.
