Made in His Image

Devotional
Have you ever stopped to consider the profound truth that every person you encounter is made in God’s image? From the colleague who frustrates you to the stranger who cuts you off in traffic, each bears the divine imprint. This reality should transform how we see and treat others. In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to categorize people: allies or opponents, valuable or dispensable. But God’s perspective transcends our limited vision. The sixth commandment, “You shall not murder,” goes beyond prohibiting physical violence—it’s a call to recognize and honor the sacred worth of every human life. When we truly grasp that all people—regardless of their beliefs, behaviors, or backgrounds—bear God’s image, it becomes impossible to dismiss or devalue them. The elderly neighbor who needs extra patience, the political opponent whose views differ from yours, the unborn child not yet seen—all carry divine dignity. Today, challenge yourself to look beyond surface judgments and see others as God sees them: precious bearers of His image, worthy of respect, kindness, and care.

Bible Verse
“Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.” – Genesis 9:6

Reflection Question
How might your interactions with difficult people change if you consciously reminded yourself they are made in God’s image?

Quote All human life is sacred because it’s made in the image of God. You know what that means? That means the people that irritate me. You know who you are, but you’re beautiful because you’re made in the image of God.

Prayer
Father, open my eyes to see Your image in everyone I meet today. Help me to honor the sacred worth You’ve placed in each person, especially those I find difficult to love. Transform my perspective to align with Yours. Amen.
