Devotional
In our story’s climax, after Elisha miraculously made the axe head float, he told the prophet, “Lift it out.” God provided the miracle, but the man had to participate in his own restoration by reaching out and taking hold of what God made available. This pattern appears throughout Scripture. God parts the Red Sea, but the Israelites must walk through. Jesus multiplies the loaves and fish, but the disciples must distribute them. God’s restoration always invites our participation. The ultimate example of this principle is the cross. Humanity had lost its edge—our standing with God—through sin. We were helpless to recover what was lost. But God provided a solution through Christ’s sacrifice. The cross, like Elisha’s stick, became the instrument of miraculous restoration. Yet we must still reach out in faith to take hold of what God has provided. Whatever edge you’ve lost—in your work, relationships, or spiritual life—God has made restoration possible through the cross. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is available to restore what seems irretrievably lost in your life. But you must actively reach out and take hold of what He offers. Today, God invites you to participate in your own restoration. He’s made the impossible possible—now reach out in faith and take hold of the edge He’s restoring to you.

Bible Verse
“‘Lift it out,’ he said. Then the man reached out his hand and took it.” – 2 Kings 6:7

Reflection Question
What specific action is God asking you to take to participate in the restoration of your edge? How can you actively reach out and take hold of what He’s making available to you?

Quote “Maybe you’ve lost your edge. Maybe you’ve lost it in work. Maybe you’ve lost it in your marriage. Maybe you’ve lost it in your service to the Lord. But the power of the cross says there’s still life and there’s still hope and there’s still an edge to be restored.”

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for the cross—the ultimate instrument of restoration. I believe that through Your sacrifice, what seems impossibly lost can be miraculously restored. Give me the faith to reach out and take hold of the edge You’re restoring in my life. Help me to participate actively in the restoration process, trusting in Your power rather than my own strength. Amen.
