Devotional
When God found Hagar in the wilderness, His instruction was surprising: “Return to your mistress and submit to her.” He was sending her back to the very situation she had fled. But this wasn’t a command to endure abuse—it was a direction toward the place where God’s grace would break through. Sometimes God calls us to return to difficult situations, not because He wants us to suffer, but because that’s where His grace is about to be revealed. For Hagar, returning meant witnessing God’s provision and protection. Though the situation was challenging, God promised to be with her and to bless her son. We often try to create our own places of grace—environments where we feel comfortable and in control. But God’s grace frequently manifests in places we would never choose ourselves. His grace appears in our weakness, in our struggles, and even in our conflicts with others. The beautiful truth is that we don’t need to create grace; we simply need to go where God has already provided it. We can’t earn it or manufacture it. We can only receive it with humble hearts. Today, God may be calling you back to a situation you’ve been avoiding—not to punish you, but to show you His grace in unexpected ways. Will you trust Him enough to return?
Bible Verse
“The angel of the LORD said to her, ‘Return to your mistress and submit to her.'” – Genesis 16:9

Father, give me the courage to go where Your grace is waiting, even if it means returning to difficult situations. Help me to trust that You are working all things together for my good.
