Devotional
We often think freedom comes from getting what we want – the promotion, the relationship, the recognition. Jacob thought the same. He believed that if he could just secure his father’s blessing, he would finally be free from his insecurities and struggles. But true freedom came to Jacob in an unexpected way. It wasn’t through deception or manipulation, but through surrender. When he finally recognized that his struggle was with God, not with people, everything changed. This realization is liberating. When we understand that our deepest struggles are with God, we stop exhausting ourselves trying to win human approval or manipulate circumstances. We redirect our energy toward the only relationship that can truly satisfy our souls. Jacob’s declaration, “I will not let you go unless you bless me,” marks his transition from struggling against God to struggling toward Him. He finally understood that God’s blessing was all he needed. The path to freedom isn’t found in getting everything we want from others. It’s found in surrendering to God and receiving what only He can give – identity, purpose, and unconditional love. When we have His blessing, we no longer need to fight for everyone else’s.

Bible Verse

“But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way.” – 1 Corinthians 12-14

Lord, I’ve spent too much energy seeking validation from others. Today I choose to redirect my focus to You. Free me from the need for human approval and help me find complete satisfaction in Your blessing alone. Thank You that in You, I am already approved. Amen.
