DevotionalImagine trying to defend your home without knowing where the doors and windows are, or attempting to navigate without understanding your destination. Many believers find themselves in spiritual battles unprepared because they know what they believe but not why they believe it. In a world that constantly questions faith, it’s not enough to simply say, “I believe in Jesus.” We need to understand the foundation of our salvation and be able to articulate why we have confidence in Christ. This isn’t about having all the theological answers or winning debates—it’s about having a deep, personal understanding of what Christ has done for us. Our salvation doesn’t rest on our performance, our church attendance, or our good deeds. These things matter, but they’re not the foundation of our eternal security. Our confidence is built on something far more solid: the perfect life Christ lived, the perfect death He died, and His declaration that “it is finished.” When Jesus spoke those words from the cross, He wasn’t expressing defeat—He was announcing victory. The debt was paid, the barrier was removed, and the way to the Father was opened. This is why we believe. This is the foundation that cannot be shaken. Knowing why you believe transforms how you live. It gives you confidence in uncertain times, peace in the midst of storms, and boldness to share your faith with others. When you understand that your salvation is secure in Christ’s finished work, you can face any challenge with unwavering hope.

Bible Verse

‘Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.’ – Hebrews 11:1

Reflection Question

If someone asked you why you believe you’re saved, could you clearly explain the foundation of your faith beyond just saying you believe in Jesus?

Quote
“You need to know not just what you believe, but you need to know why you believe it. Yeah, you need to know that you are saved, but you need to know why you believe you’re saved and upon what basis you know that you’re saved.”

Prayer

Father, deepen my understanding of what You’ve done for me through Christ. Help me to know not just what I believe, but why I believe it. Give me confidence in Your finished work and the ability to share this hope with others. Amen.
