Devotional
Life has a way of humbling us all. Whether you’re reading this in a season of peace or in the midst of a storm, there’s one truth we must acknowledge: suffering is part of the human experience. It doesn’t matter how strong your faith is, how much you pray, or how faithfully you serve God – trials will come. This isn’t meant to discourage you, but to prepare you. When we understand that suffering is inevitable, we can stop asking “Why me?” and start asking “How will I respond?” The difference between those two questions is profound. One leads to bitterness and despair, while the other opens the door to growth and purpose. Being a follower of Christ doesn’t give us a free pass from life’s difficulties. In fact, Scripture assumes we’ll face trials. But here’s what changes everything: we don’t face them alone. God doesn’t promise to remove every hardship, but He promises to walk through it with us. Today, whether you’re in a valley or on a mountaintop, remember that your current circumstances don’t define your future. God is present in both seasons, working in ways you may not yet see. Your suffering has not caught Him off guard, and your story is far from over.
Bible Verse
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” – Isaiah 43:2
Reflection Question
How might your perspective on current or future difficulties change if you truly believed that God promises to be with you through every trial, not necessarily to remove them?
Quote
“Every person falls into one of two categories. You either are suffering or you will suffer.”
Prayer
Father, help me to accept that suffering is part of life while trusting that You are always with me. Give me courage to face whatever comes, knowing that You will never leave me to walk through it alone. Amen.
