Devotional
When someone has been away from dancing for a long time, they need someone to teach them the steps again. That’s exactly what Jesus came to do for humanity. While we had gotten completely out of sync with God’s eternal dance, Jesus came to show us the way back into the rhythm of divine love and glory. His entire life was a perfect demonstration of what it looks like to live in step with the Father. Every word He spoke, every action He took, every breath He breathed was in perfect harmony with God’s purposes. And the steps He taught us begin with something that seems counterintuitive: ‘If you want to live, you’ve got to die to live. Self has to die.’ This isn’t about physical death, but about the death of our self-centered approach to life. Jesus showed us that true life – the kind of abundant, joyful life we were created for – comes when we stop trying to make everything about ourselves and instead find our rhythm in God’s eternal dance. Through His perfect obedience and sacrificial death on the cross, Jesus opened the way for us to re-enter this divine dance. He paid the price for our stepping out of rhythm and made it possible for us to dance with God once again. The invitation is always there, calling us back into the joy and purpose we were created for. Even in our darkest moments, even when life feels chaotic and out of control, God’s dance continues, and His invitation to join Him remains open.

Bible Verse

‘And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him.’ – Matthew 3:16

Reflection Question

What would it look like for you to ‘die to self’ and step back into God’s dance in your current circumstances?

Quote
” Jesus has come to show us the steps back into the dance. And he says, the steps start with this. If you want to live, you gotta die to live. Self has to die.”

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for showing me the way back into the dance with God. Help me to die to my selfish desires and find my life in You. Teach me the steps of living in rhythm with the Father’s purposes, especially in the difficult seasons of life. Amen.
