Picture this: Jesus’ ministry is exploding. Crowds are gathering, miracles are happening, and everyone wants a piece of His time. His disciples are probably thinking, ‘This is it! This is our moment!’ But what does Jesus do? He gets up early, while it’s still dark, and goes to pray. This wasn’t a one-time thing. In the busiest, most successful season of His ministry, prayer remained His top priority. Think about that for a moment. If the perfect Son of God needed to prioritize prayer during His busiest times, how much more do we need it during ours? Here’s what’s revolutionary about Jesus’ prayer life: He didn’t pray to get stuff from God. He prayed to get God. Prayer wasn’t His spiritual shopping list; it was His lifeline to the Father. It was about relationship, intimacy, and staying connected to His source. We live in a culture that celebrates busyness. We wear our packed schedules like badges of honor. But when life gets busy, prayer is usually the first thing we squeeze out. We tell ourselves we’ll pray later, when things calm down. But Jesus shows us a different way. Prayer isn’t just something we add to our lives when we have time. Prayer is the foundation that makes everything else in our lives possible. It’s where we find strength, direction, and peace. It’s where we remember who we are and whose we are. When you prioritize prayer, especially in your busiest seasons, you’re following the pattern of Jesus. You’re choosing relationship over productivity, intimacy over activity.

Bible Verse

‘Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”‘ – Mark 1:36-37

Reflection Question

When your life gets busy, what is typically the first thing you sacrifice, and how can you make prayer your foundation rather than an afterthought?

Quote
” When our life gets busy, prayer is usually the first thing that is squeezed out of our lives. But in the busyness of his life, prayer was the first thing he gave attention to.”

Prayer

Father, forgive me for the times I’ve prioritized everything else above spending time with You. Help me to follow Jesus’ example and make prayer my first priority, especially when life gets busy. I don’t want to just get things from You – I want to get You. Draw me into deeper relationship with You through prayer. Amen.
