Devotional

The Israelites faced an impossible situation. The Jordan River was at flood stage, and over a million people needed to cross. But God’s instruction was simple: put My presence first. As the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant stepped into the rushing water, something miraculous happened – the river stopped flowing. What seemed impossible became possible the moment they prioritized God’s presence over their circumstances. After everyone crossed safely, God commanded Joshua to collect twelve stones from the riverbed as a memorial. These weren’t just rocks; they were reminders of the day God made a way when there was no way. In our lives, we often face our own ‘flooded rivers’ – situations that seem impossible to navigate. The key isn’t having all the answers or waiting for perfect conditions. It’s about putting God first, even when we can’t see how He’ll work. When we prioritize His presence over our problems, we position ourselves to witness His power. Those impossible situations become the very places where God demonstrates His faithfulness most clearly.

Bible Verse

‘Take up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, from right where the priests are standing, and carry them over with you and put them down at the place where you stay tonight.’ – Joshua 4:3

Reflection Question

What ‘impossible’ situation in your life needs you to put God first rather than focusing on the obstacles?

Quote

When you don’t know what to do, you just make sure God is first.

Prayer

Lord, help me trust You enough to step into my impossible situations with You leading the way. Give me faith to put Your presence first, knowing You make ways where there seem to be none.
