Devotional
Mary’s approach to Jesus at the wedding reveals a masterclass in faithful parenting and relationships. She had watched Him for thirty years, knowing He was destined for greatness, yet she never forced His hand or pushed Him into ministry prematurely. When the wine ran out, she simply presented the need without demanding action. This demonstrates the beautiful balance between believing in someone’s potential while respecting their timing and process. Mary understood that true faith means trusting God’s timeline, not our own urgency. In our relationships—whether with children, friends, or colleagues—we can learn from Mary’s example. We can believe deeply in others while giving them space to grow and develop according to God’s perfect timing.
Bible Verse
‘On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.’ – John 2:1-2
Reflection Question
In what relationships are you tempted to push rather than trust, and how can you practice Mary’s example of believing without forcing?
Quote
I really appreciate how Mary believed in her son, but yet she did not push her son. She let the divine providence of God work in God’s time for him to be revealed who he was.
Prayer
God, give me the wisdom to believe in others while trusting Your perfect timing. Help me support without pushing and encourage without controlling.
