Devotional
Jesus initially told Mary that His hour had not yet come, but she didn’t walk away discouraged. She understood something we often miss: God’s timing is perfect, even when it doesn’t align with ours. Sometimes the closed door isn’t rejection—it’s redirection to something better. Sometimes the delay isn’t denial—it’s preparation for a greater blessing. Mary’s response teaches us to trust God’s wisdom even when we don’t understand His timeline. She didn’t argue or manipulate; she simply trusted that His heart was good and His timing was perfect. When we face delays or seeming rejections in our prayers, we can remember that God’s ‘no’ or ‘not yet’ often protects us from settling for less than His best.
Bible Verse
‘”Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”‘ – John 2:4
Reflection Question
How can you learn to see God’s delays or different answers as expressions of His love rather than signs of His absence?
Quote
Sometimes when the door doesn’t open, it’s only because there’s another door down the road that is much better suited for you.
Prayer
Lord, when Your answer isn’t what I expect, help me trust that Your timing is perfect and Your heart toward me is always good.
