There is one question that cuts through all the noise of life, and Jesus asked it Himself: Who do you say that I am? He did not ask it in a quiet, controlled setting. He asked it along the road, while life was happening. That detail matters more than we might think. Because the real answer to this question does not come on Sunday morning with the lights up and the music playing. It comes on Monday afternoon when your boss is pressing you. It comes on Tuesday morning when the kids are fighting and traffic is a nightmare. How you respond in those moments is your actual answer. This is not meant to discourage you. It is meant to invite you into something deeper. Jesus is not looking for a perfect performance. He is looking for a genuine relationship, one where who He is to you shapes how you live, not just what you say. You cannot borrow someone else’s answer to this question. Your parents’ faith, your pastor’s declaration, your church’s tradition, none of it can substitute for your own personal response. At some point, you have to answer for yourself. And the good news is this: Jesus is still asking. He is still walking alongside you on the road of your everyday life, and He is still waiting for your answer.

If someone could only observe how you lived this past week, with no access to what you say on Sundays, what answer to this question would they conclude you believe?

Prayer
Lord, help me to answer this question not just with my words but with my life. Let who You are to me be visible in how I treat people, how I respond under pressure, and how I walk through each ordinary day. Amen.
