Imagine driving a car and only checking the speedometer while ignoring the fuel gauge. You might feel like everything is fine right up until the moment you run out of gas on the side of the road. Many of us do something similar in our spiritual lives. We measure our standing with God by how much we serve, how well we sing, or how gifted we are. And because those things look good, we assume everything must be fine. But Paul wrote to the church in Corinth, a congregation overflowing with spiritual gifts, and told them something that should stop us in our tracks. Tongues, prophecy, mountain-moving faith, even radical generosity. All of it amounts to nothing without love. Nothing. That is a hard word. But it is also a freeing one. Because it means God is not primarily impressed by your output. He is looking at something deeper. He is looking at love. This week, we are going to explore what that means and why it changes everything. Today, simply ask yourself: what gauge have I been watching?
