Scripture:
“Then she arose with her daughters-in-law to return from the country of Moab, for she had heard in the fields of Moab that the Lord had visited his people and given them food.” — Ruth 1:6 (ESV)
Devotional Reading: Naomi found herself completely devastated in Moab—widowed, childless, impoverished, and without legal standing. Yet in the midst of her deep sorrow in a foreign land, news reached her fields: Jehovah had visited His people in Bethlehem and given them bread. God’s mercy had returned to Judah. Upon hearing of the Lord’s visitation, Naomi made a pivotal decision of faith: she arose and resolved to go home.
Naomi’s return required immense faith because she had no earthly guarantees awaiting her in Bethlehem. She had no property, no husband, and no financial security. Yet she realized a profound truth: it is infinitely better to be in Bethlehem with nothing and have God, than to live in Moab with worldly ease and be without Him. God is rich in mercy and delights in visiting His people with grace and restoration. No matter how far you have wandered or how empty your life feels today, God’s altar is open. Step out of the fields of Moab and return to the House of Bread. When you return to God, His visitation will satisfy your soul.
