Devotional
In our modern world, success is often measured by external achievements – career advancement, financial status, or social media followers. However, God’s perspective is radically different. He looks at the heart, valuing internal character over outward accomplishments. When we prioritize character development through our relationship with God, we discover a deeper, more meaningful measure of success. This doesn’t mean achievements are wrong, but they should flow from who we are in Christ rather than defining who we are.
Bible Verse
“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.'” – 1 Samuel 16:7
Reflection Question
In what areas of your life might you be prioritizing external achievements over internal character growth?
Quote: “Humanity will tend to measure by outward achievements rather than inner character. We are measured by what we have done or can do outwardly. God’s concern is your inward character.”
Prayer
Lord, help me focus on developing godly character rather than chasing worldly achievements. Shape my heart to reflect Your values and priorities. May my accomplishments flow from who I am in You. Amen.
