Devotional
When we’ve lost our edge and stopped our ineffective striving, the next crucial step is to cry out to God. The prophet in our story didn’t hesitate to bring his problem to Elisha, God’s representative. “Oh no, my lord! It was borrowed!” His cry acknowledged both his helplessness and his hope that intervention was possible. Sometimes we hesitate to bring our seemingly small problems to God. We might think He’s only concerned with global issues or major life crises. But Scripture consistently reveals a God who cares deeply about every detail of our lives. Nothing that affects you is too insignificant for God’s attention. The lost axe head mattered—not just because it was borrowed, but because it affected someone God loved. In the same way, your lost edge in your marriage, career, ministry, or personal walk with God matters to Him because it affects you. Crying out to God is an act of faith. It demonstrates our belief that He cares and that He can restore what seems irretrievably lost. It positions us to receive the supernatural intervention we need when our natural abilities and efforts have failed us.

Bible Verse
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7

Reflection Question
What specific area where you’ve lost your edge do you need to intentionally bring before God, trusting that He cares deeply about this situation?

Quote “God cares about everything that affects us. Does God care about the kingdoms of earth? Absolutely. He cares about the kingdoms of earth. Does God care about the great men and women of the earth? Absolutely. He cares about the great men and women. But let me tell you what else he cares about. He cares about the sparrows, and he cares about the robins, and he cares about everything that affects you and that affects me.”

Prayer
Lord, I come to You with the places where I’ve lost my edge. Thank You that nothing in my life is too small for Your attention. I believe You care about everything that affects me. Help me to trust You with both the big and small challenges I face, knowing that You are able to restore what seems lost. Amen.
