Devotional

After Jesus stepped into the boat and the wind stopped, Mark records that the disciples were completely astonished. And then he tells us why. They had not understood about the loaves. Their hearts were hardened. In the middle of their struggle, they had forgotten what God had just done. Those twelve baskets of leftover bread were likely still in the boat. The evidence of God’s faithfulness was right there with them, and they still could not connect it to the moment they were in. It is easy to do the same thing. When the winds pick up, we look forward in frustration instead of looking back in faith. We forget the prayers He answered, the doors He opened, the moments He showed up when we were sure He would not. We forget the loaves. Remembering is not just a gratitude exercise. It is a spiritual discipline that builds trust. When you look back at what God has already brought you through, you find the courage to face what is in front of you. You have loaves in your boat. Moments of provision, protection, and faithfulness that testify to who God is. Do not let the struggle make you forget them. Look back, give thanks, and trust that the same God who was faithful then is faithful now and will be faithful tomorrow.

Bible Verse
