Devotional
Have you ever noticed how we tend to compartmentalize God? We expect Him at church, during prayer time, or in moments of crisis—but what about in the mundane moments of our everyday lives? In Genesis 18, we find Abraham sitting at the entrance of his tent during the heat of the day. Nothing special was happening. It wasn’t a holy day or a time of prayer. It was just an ordinary moment in Abraham’s life. Yet, it was precisely in this ordinary moment that God chose to appear. This story challenges our expectations about when and how God shows up. He doesn’t need special invitations or sacred spaces. He can and does meet us in the midst of our normal routines—while we’re preparing dinner, driving to work, or simply resting at home. The question is: are we looking for Him? What if we approached each day with the expectation that God might show up? How would that change our awareness, our attitudes, and our actions? Perhaps we’ve missed God’s presence not because He wasn’t there, but because we weren’t looking or because He didn’t appear in the way we expected.

Bible Verse

“The LORD appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day.” – Genesis 18:1

Reflection Question

When was the last time God showed up in an unexpected moment of your day? How might you cultivate a greater awareness of His presence in your ordinary routines?

Quote I want you to live with the expectancy that on any given day, God may show up and speak to you. That on any given day, God may show up and reveal himself to you. I want you walking out of the door in the morning looking for him. He may be there. He may be there.

Prayer

Lord, open my eyes to see You in the ordinary moments of my life. Help me to live with expectancy, looking for Your presence in unexpected places and times. May I never be so busy or distracted that I miss Your visitation. Amen.
