Devotional
We all have our Jerichos—intimidating obstacles that seem impossible to overcome. For Joshua, it was a literal fortress city with imposing walls. For us, it might be a health crisis, a broken relationship, a financial setback, or a spiritual stronghold. Joshua’s initial confidence likely wavered as he stood before Jericho’s massive walls. The reality of the challenge was far more daunting up close than it had been from a distance. Isn’t that how our problems often feel? We think we have faith until we’re standing at the foot of our mountain. But what transforms our perspective isn’t the size of our obstacle—it’s the presence of our God. The night before battle, Joshua encountered the commander of the Lord’s army. This divine meeting changed everything. Joshua realized he wasn’t fighting alone; the battle belonged to God. Your Jericho may seem insurmountable today. The walls may appear too high, too thick, too strong. But remember: the same God who stood with Joshua stands with you. Your battle isn’t yours to win through your own strength or strategy. It belongs to the Lord, and He has never lost a battle.

Bible Verse
“When the spies had seen the land, they had brought back a bad report about it; and the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The whole assembly said to them, ‘If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this wilderness!'” – Numbers 14:36-37

Reflection Question
What is your current “Jericho”—the obstacle that seems impossible to overcome—and how might your perspective change if you truly believed God was fighting this battle for you?

Quote “It’s one thing to be confident and sure when you’re not at the battle. It’s another thing when the walls are right in front of you. It’s one thing to stand at a distance and say, it’s all right, God will help us. It’s another thing when you get to the moment and you really didn’t realize how big them walls were.”

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I stand before my Jericho today, and honestly, I’m intimidated. The walls seem too high, the battle too difficult. Remind me that this battle belongs to You. Help me to see my challenges through Your eyes rather than my own limited perspective. I surrender my fear and anxiety to You, trusting that You are already working on my behalf. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
