Devotional
Have you ever noticed how we tend to define ourselves by our occupations? It’s often the first question we ask when meeting someone new: “What do you do?” While work is important, it shouldn’t be our primary source of identity. When we allow our jobs to define us, we risk tying our worth to our performance or position. God calls us to find our identity in Him first, allowing our work to flow from that foundation. This shift in perspective frees us to serve excellently without being enslaved to others’ opinions or workplace pressures.

Bible Verse

“Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.” – Ephesians 6:5

Reflection Question

In what ways have you allowed your work to define your identity, and how can you begin to find your primary identity in Christ instead?

Quote “We live in a world where we define each other by what we do. And here’s the problem with that. We start to believe that we are defined by what we do. That becomes our identity.”

Prayer

Father, help me remember that my identity is found in You, not in my work. Give me the courage to serve excellently while keeping my heart anchored in who You say I am. Amen.
