Devotional

At the end of Zechariah’s vision, something remarkable happened. God did not send the high priest away to try harder. He spoke a promise: soon, He would send His servant the Branch, and in one day, He would remove the sins of the land. One day. Everything humanity could not fix, everything no ritual or effort could resolve, God said He would handle it Himself. That day came. Jesus went to the cross and bore the full weight of human sin. Not just the polished sins we confess easily, but all of it. Every dark thought. Every hidden shame. Every moment of pride and selfishness. He took it all. And the result is staggering. He who knew no sin became sin, so that you and I could become the righteousness of God. Not the righteousness we earned. His righteousness, given to us freely. What the high priest could never accomplish through a lifetime of religious performance, Jesus accomplished in a single act of surrender on the cross. You do not have to carry what He has already taken. That is not humility. That is refusing the gift. Receive it today with open hands and a grateful heart.

Bible Verse

“He showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at His right hand to accuse Him.” – Zechariah 3:1

Reflection Question

Is there a sin or a shame from your past that you are still carrying, even though Jesus already paid for it on the cross?

“What the high priest could not do through his religious performance, Jesus did when He surrendered Himself to the will of the Father.”

Jesus, thank You for becoming what I was so that I could become what You are. Help me to truly receive the righteousness You have freely given. Amen.
