When you no longer have anything to prove, something remarkable happens. You become free. Free to be patient with the person who frustrates you. Free to celebrate someone else’s success without feeling threatened. Free to give generously without needing recognition. Free to love, not because you are naturally that good, but because you are no longer carrying the weight of self-justification.
This is where everything we have explored this week comes together. We started by looking at the wrong gauges. We traced the root of lovelessness back to a self-focused heart. We faced the reality that our gifts and abilities will not last. And we stood at the cross, where our worth was settled once and for all. Now we get to live from that place.
Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy or boast. It is not self-seeking. That is not just a description of love. It is a description of what becomes possible when you know who you are in Christ. You have nothing to prove. All you have to do is love.
