We live in a world that loves metrics. Numbers, results, visible impact. And honestly, the church can fall into the same trap. We celebrate the gifted, the visible, and the impressive. But Paul points us to a completely different standard. Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy or boast. It does not keep a record of wrongs. It bears all things and endures all things. Read that list slowly and you will notice something: none of it is flashy. None of it trends. But every single quality on that list requires something real from you. Love, as Paul describes it, is not a feeling you wait for. It is a choice you make, often at personal cost, often without recognition. It is showing up for someone when it is inconvenient. It is choosing patience when frustration would be easier. It is releasing a grudge when holding it feels justified. This is the more excellent way Paul is pointing to. Not a lesser path, but a higher one. And here is what makes it so encouraging: this kind of love is not reserved for the spiritually elite. It is available to every follower of Jesus, right now, exactly where you are.
