Devotional

Naaman was a powerful military general with a serious problem. He traveled a great distance seeking healing, and when the prophet’s instructions came, he was furious. He had expected something dramatic. Instead, he was told to wash in a river seven times. It seemed too simple, too ordinary. He almost missed his miracle because the method did not match his expectations. We do the same thing. We pray for God to show up in the big, unmistakable moments. We wait for the extraordinary. But Jesus laid aside His glory and walked among ordinary people in ordinary places. He turned water into wine at a wedding. He healed people on the side of the road. He fed crowds with a boy’s lunch. God is not absent from your Tuesday afternoon or your commute or your quiet evening at home. He is there. The question is whether you are looking for Him only in the spectacular, or whether you are willing to find Him in the small and simple moments He has already placed in front of you. Encouragement: your ordinary life is not a waiting room for something greater. It is the very place God wants to meet you.

Bible Verse

“And he said, ‘Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored, and you shall be clean.'” – 2 Kings 5:10

Reflection Question

What ordinary moment in your daily life might God be using to speak to you that you have been overlooking?

Quote

“He hasn’t really come to deliver us out of ordinary. He’s come to redeem the ordinary so that God is actually seen in the ordinary moments of life.”

Prayer

Father, help me to stop waiting for the extraordinary and start recognizing You in the everyday moments of my life. Give me eyes to see what You are already doing around me.
