Devotional
When God promised Abraham and Sarah a son, He wasn’t just promising a biological miracle. He was also promising to restore their relationship, which had grown distant and strained after the Hagar incident. Their story reminds us that God cares deeply about our relationships and has the power to heal even the most broken connections. Think about the relationships in your life that need restoration. Perhaps it’s a marriage where love has grown cold, siblings who haven’t spoken in years, a friendship damaged by betrayal, or a parent-child relationship marked by misunderstanding. These situations may seem hopeless from a human perspective, but they’re not beyond God’s restorative power. The same God who reconciled us to Himself through Christ is able to reconcile us to one another. He can breathe new life into dead relationships, replace bitterness with forgiveness, and rekindle love that has grown cold. Where human efforts at reconciliation fail, God’s grace can build bridges across the widest chasms of hurt and misunderstanding.
Bible Verse
“The LORD appeared to Abram and said, ‘To your offspring I will give this land.’ So he built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him.” – Genesis 12:7
Reflection Question
What broken relationship in your life needs God’s restorative touch? What step of faith might God be asking you to take toward reconciliation?
Quote We serve a God who specializes in healing broken relationship. How do you know that, Pastor? Because he healed our relationship with him through his son, Jesus Christ. And if he can restore us to Christ, he can restore any of us to one another.
Prayer
God of restoration, I bring before You the broken relationships in my life. Where I see only hurt and impossibility, help me to see opportunity for Your wonderful work. Give me courage to take whatever steps You’re calling me to take, and work in ways that only You can to bring healing and reconciliation. Amen.
