Devotional
Let’s be honest. The Gospel is offensive. It tells every person, regardless of background or achievement, that they have fallen short and cannot save themselves. It declares that Jesus is the only way. In any culture, in any era, those are not easy words to hear. But here is something important: that offense belongs to the message, not to you. When Jesus sent His disciples out, He did not tell them to sharpen their arguments or win debates. He told them to go humbly, to depend on the people they were serving, and to let their lives speak. The early church was known not for being combative, but for being impossibly loving. One ancient writer observed that no matter what was done to them, they could not be made to stop loving each other or the people around them. The Gospel will always challenge people. You do not need to add to that challenge by being harsh, dismissive, or self-righteous. Your job is to carry the message with grace and let it do what only it can do. Encouragement: you are not responsible for how people respond to the Gospel. You are responsible for how you carry it.
Bible Verse
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23
Reflection Question
Is there someone in your life who may be resisting not the Gospel itself, but the way it has been presented to them? How might you approach them differently?
Quote
“While the gospel is offensive, you and I are never given license to be offensive. The gospel is offensive in and of itself. You don’t have to make up for any shortcomings.”
Prayer
Lord, let my life be a reflection of Your love, not a stumbling block to it. Help me carry Your message with humility and grace.
