Devotional

Fear has a way of growing louder the longer we sit with it. And more often than not, the voice behind that fear is not telling the truth. Jesus called the enemy the Father of lies. That title matters. It means that when a voice tells you God has forgotten you, that your situation is hopeless, or that your best days are gone, you can hold those words up to the light and know they do not hold up. The opposite is far closer to the truth. David knew this tension well. He wrote Psalm 3 while running for his life from his own son. Voices surrounded him, declaring there was no help for him in God. And yet he still turned to God. He did not wait until the fear went away. He cried out in the middle of it. You do not have to have it all together to come to God. You do not need the right words or the right feelings. You just need to come. He already knows what you carried through the door today, and He is not surprised by any of it. The lies will come. But they do not get the final word. God does.

Bible Verse

“But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and He heard me out of His holy hill.” – Psalm 3:3-4

Reflection Question

What is one lie you have been believing lately, and what does God’s Word actually say in response to it?

Prayer

Lord, when the voices of fear and doubt grow loud, help me to turn to You first. Remind me that You are my shield and the lifter of my head. Amen.
