Devotional
After Jesus calmed the storm, the disciples faced a new kind of fear – not of the wind and waves, but of Jesus Himself. They had just witnessed power that only God possesses, and it left them wondering, “Who is this?” This moment presents us with a crucial choice that we face in every storm: Will we try to manage Jesus, or will we let Him be Lord? When we’re in crisis, it’s natural to want to control the outcome, to tell God exactly how and when to fix things. But true faith means surrendering control and trusting His lordship, even when His methods don’t match our expectations. Jesus demonstrated that He has authority over the forces of nature, which means He has authority over whatever storm you’re facing too. The question isn’t whether He can handle your situation – it’s whether you’ll trust Him to handle it His way, in His timing.
Bible Verse
‘That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.’ – Mark 4:35-41
